The qualifying rounds of the 2017 men’s and women’s Isle of Man Golf Championships were hosted by Ramsey Golf Club over the weekend with fields of 110 competitors.
Sponsored by Grant Thornton, the championships see the increasing number of top quality local players and club members tackle the pressure of Isle of Man Golf ’s premier event.
Alex McAuley topped the men’s qualifying held over two 18-hole rounds on Saturday and Sunday, posting scores of 72 and 70 to finish two shots clear of Andrew Challenor.
Also progressing to Tuesday evening’s last 16 matchplay stages were Peter Glover, Robert Noon, Daryl Callister, Tom Harris, Jonathan Corke, Stephen Skillicorn, Mark Pugh, Tom Gandy, Paul Lowey, Daniel Bell, Danny Foulis, Kevin Moore, Lee Morgan and Phil Christian.

Shirley Price led the way in the women’s qualifying rounds, recording scores of 82 and 81 to end two shots clear of Lynda Simpson who in turn was four clear of Island Games competitors Breeshey Jansen and Kayleigh Dawson.
Also booking their place in Wednesday’s quarter-finals were Joy Morris, Catherine Cassidy, Ruth Pigott and Jane Gaines.
