Tyler Hannay made it three in wins out of three in the Canada Life International-sponsored 10-mile time trial league last Wednesday.

Unlike Max Walker, who again rode a private time trial, Hannay’s times continued to improve.

From a 20min 43sec performance in the opening round on July 29, he went 23s quicker in round two and then shaved off another eight seconds last week to better the junior record he achieved on August 5 with 20.12.

His fellow Utmost IoM Junior Cycling Team rider James Harrison was again runner-up in the league, replicating his 20.56 from the previous week.

Leading veteran Rob Moneta (Ellan Vannin) produced a series best of 21.30, edging out Matt Cooil (Utmost) by four seconds. Joel Newman (Manx Mountain Bike Club) improved on his week one time by four seconds, while Richard Lardner-Burke slashed 10s off his opening salvo.

The Team RL360 duo of Ralf Holden and Zac Walker had another close battle for the youth honours, but on this occasion Holden got the better by three seconds with a personal best of 21.52.

Team-mate Nicola Quaye was the top female in the league with 25.36 - Sophie Smith and Jess Pickavance almost inseparable with 26.39 and 26.40 respectively.

Fastest male and female overall were semi-pros Max Walker and Anna Christian. Trinity Racing’s Walker did 20.04 - only eight seconds faster than Hannay.

Drops rider Christian did a swift 23.38, precisely one minute short of her personal best set in 2017.

l There is now a five-week break in the league until Sunday, September 20 for the Isle of Man 10-mile championships.
