Tyler Hannay produced another phenomenal ride to win the Isle of Man 10-mile time trial championship in a junior record time on Sunday.
Amongst the 17-year-old’s scalps was new resident, Team Ineos Grenadiers rider Chris Lawless, who he edged out by a margin of four seconds.
Hannay’s time of 20min 01sec was a personal best by 11 seconds from the previous round on August 12.
Max Walker, who dominated the early rounds of the Canada Life 10-mile time trial (of which this counted as round four), was third overall in 20.25, followed by Leon Mazzone in 20.56.
James Harrison was second of the league contenders (fifth overall) behind his Utmost IoM Junior team-mate Hannay, recording a time of 21.23, his slowest of the series to date.
A raft of riders also went under 22 minutes, led by Richard Lardner-Burke in 21.33 and Rob Moneta 21.36, who fended off Gianni Epifani for the veteran’s title in 21.49. Juan Kinley was the best over-50 and Tony Varley best over-60.
Once more, the leading two youths, not surprisingly, were the RL360 pairing of Zac Walker and Ralf Holden in 22.13 and 22.19 respectively. They are rarely more than a few seconds apart in any form of two-wheel competition.
Drops team rider Anna Christian won the women’s title in a private TT time of 23.28 (precisely one minute down on her local best).
She was followed by 14-year-old Nicola Quaye (RL360) with a strong ride in 25.50, who edged out leading veteran woman Lynsey Elliott by seven seconds.
Second youth (behind Quaye) was Jess Pickavance in 26.33 and leading senior Michelle Gage 27.19.
