Manx Hockey Association’s fledgling 2022-23 Rossborough Mixed League season continues this weekend.

After last week’s warm weather, it looks set to continue this Saturday.

The Premier League boasts what appears to be a tasty fixture between Vikings A and Castletown A, the only team not to concede last week. Between them, the two sides scored 16 goals on the opening day so this promises goals aplenty.

Bacchas A are aiming to challenge again for the title this year and will this weekend be looking for revenge over Vikings B who earned themselves a historic win last season. Valkyrs A will go up against a first string side in Ramsey and will no doubt try to take chances to pin their place as title contenders in the Premiership.

The last fixture in the top flight on Saturday looks like a tasty affair which sees Valkyrs B and Bacchas B in the first of the battle of the second string teams.

DIVISION ONE

Vikings D versus Valkyrs C will be the game of the day in Division One. Having seen the latter side edge a close game against Quins and Vikings D beat last year’s runners-up on the opening day, this will be the next hurdle for Valkyrs C.

Quins A against Vikings C will provide a match full of end-to-end excitement and one to start the day off at the NSC with a bang.

DIVISION TWO

In Division Two, the early contenders are Ramsey and Cushags. The northerners head west to take on Valkyrs D, while Cushags have their first derby of the season against Cammags in the 3.30pm game in Castletown.

DIVISION THREE

Division Three is the only league which will have free weeks in the fixture lists.

This weekend Bacchas Colts begin their campaign against Valkyrs Colts in a game which should involve the best of youth and experience from both clubs. It will be nice to see how these sides progress throughout the season.

UNDER-15S

The two front-runners in the u15s league meet this Saturday for the first time.

After Bacchas and Harlequins both recorded high-scoring wins on the opening day, this game promises to provide goals.

Bacchas, who have goals in abundance, will travel south to try and get their first two points on the board against Castletown Sabres who will be aiming to bounce back after a very narrow defeat last weekend.

The Isle of Man hockey community continues to mourn the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II and again will continue with a two-minutes’ silence before the games this Saturday, while players will wear black armbands or black ribbons.
