Birthday boy Nathan Draper picked up silver in the Island Games’ men’s road race on Thursday evening.

The Isle of Man’s squad matched the feats of their female team-mates as they also secured the team silver in the 93km event that involved 11 laps of a tough 8.4km course around Gibraltar’s east coast.

The 22-year-old missed out on gold in the sprint for the line to Saaremaa’s Mihkel Raim who also took victory in Tuesday evening’s grueling time trial.

Manx youngster Adam Scarffe was also involved in the sprint finish, narrowly missing out on an individual medal to add to his time trial bronze in fifth.

Fellow Manxies Will Corkill, Thomas Bostock and Matt Looker were 10th, 13th and 20th of the 22 riders that completed the tough race’s full distance.
