The island’s cycling team picked up four medals, including two golds, as they rounded off the first day of full competition at the Gibraltar Island Games in style.
Tara Ferguson bagged Team Isle of Man’s first gold medal of the Games when she won the women’s town criterium.
Team-mate Ellen Barker picked up bronze ensuring the line-up that also included Emily Looker, Kate Priest and Becky Storrie secured the fast and furious event’s team gold.
The young men’s team of Nathan Draper, Thomas Bostock, Adam Scarffe, Will Corkill and Matt Looker had to settle for a team bronze after an early breakaway from Sam Culverwell (Guernsey), Oskar Nisu (Saaremaa) and Albert Barcelo (Menorca) proved decisive in the battle for individual honours.
