Team Isle of Man made a good start to the 18th NatWest Island Games in Gibraltar on Sunday by landing a silver and two bronze medals in the morning’s triathlon.
Will Draper had been heavily tipped to feature among the medals heading into the Games and he didn’t disappoint as he took runners-up spot behind Guernsey’s Josh Lewis despite problems with his bike.
Claiming the island’s other individual medal was Lynsey Elliott in the women’s race.
Elliott finished strongly on the event’s 10km run to come home third behind Susanna Skylv Sorenson (Faroes) and Guernsey’s Megan Chapple to land the Isle of Man’s second medal of the Games.
In the men’s race Andrew Nash finished 12th, Nigel Quaye 20th, Juan Kinley 23rd, Chris Hewson 25th, James Wright 26th, Jonathon Piggin 34th
and Ryan Downey 36th to help the land island the team bronze by only 12 seconds.
Competing alongside Elliott in the women’s race was Foxdale’s Carrie Wernham who finished 13th.
