The 18th NatWest International Island Games get under way in earnest today, Sunday, with the majority of Team Isle of Man in action.
The men’s triathlon kicked things off at 7am (BST) followed by the women’s race 40 minutes later with Manx representation in both.
The island’s badminton squad kick off their campaign with team games against Isle of Wight, Western Isles and Gotland.
The women’s and men’s basketball contingent also make their bows against Guernsey and Aland respectively, while the table tennis team take on Menorca and Guernsey.
What is usually one of the highlights of the Games, cycling’s town criterium, takes place on Sunday evening starting at 5pm (BST) with the women’s race.
There’s athletics finals also to look forward to on what is a busy first day. Athletics men’s team captain Alan Corlett goes in the 10,000m at 6.30pm (BST), while there’s field finals for in the high jump and long jump for James Margrave, Daniel Stewart-Clague, Aimee Cringle and Bethan Pilley.
The Isle of Man’s sailors, ten-pin bowlers, shooters, squash and tennis players are also in action at various points throughout the day as the Games gets into full swing.
