Mikey Evans suffered no serious injuries after coming off during the opening lap of Friday afternoon’s Sportbike TT.

The Santon man came off at Braddan Oak and was taken to Noble’s Hospital for assessment and treatment.

Posting an update on social media on Friday evening, his team added: ‘He is all okay, scan is clear and he will just have some nice coloured bruises to add to his collection.’

It was the second time the Manxman had crashed this year’s event, coming off in qualifying at Greeba Castle. Again, luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured and was fit to resume riding the following day.

Evans added: ‘It is obviously not how I wanted that race to go or how I wanted the TT to end for me.

‘I know I had so much to show and I wanted to make everyone proud.

‘I am feeling very lucky to be walking (slowly) away and that is definitely with thanks to the RST airbag suit, Arai Helmets UK and all of the preparation work done leading up to the event.’
