Commonwealth Games team member Joe Harris competed in the British Winter Throws Championships at Loughborough University on Sunday.
The Manx Harriers athlete won the men’s javelin by throwing a massive 75.17 metres in what was his first competition of the season. This was his second furthest ever throw, and augers well for a real breakthrough season ahead.
Harris was listed in the Tier 2 athlete selections announced for the Birmingham Games in late January, alongside middle-distance runner David Mullarkey.
On this type of form Harris will surely be looking for GB international selection this summer too. His performance on Sunday was only bettered by one British thrower in 2021 - and it’s still only February.
He would like to thank Isle of Man Sport and IoM Sport Aid for all their help and support.
