The 14th annual Jude’s Sportshall Competition takes place at the National Sports Centre this Sunday.
The event is organised by Western Athletics Club and involves a three-way competition involving Northern AC, Manx Harriers and the host club for children aged seven to 12 years of age.
Judith Perriam was a long-serving member of Western whose special interests lay with the younger athletes. She passed away in 2003 and this annual competition serves as an introduction for youngsters to compete in a friendly and fun way, while at the same time make new friends in a sporty environment.
All the club coaches have been busy giving their time to help the children prepare for the popular event, which includes relays, ’safe’ javelin, long jump, speed bounce, obstacle relays and other specialised indoor activities, finishing off with a noisy and exciting Grand Prix.
Northern AC have dominated the competition over the years, but Western were victorious last year, so will 2018 be Harriers year to receive the Trophy from John Perriam?
All the action begins at 1pm and athletes will have access to the sports hall from 12.45.
