Peter Kennaugh is among a number of the world’s leading cyclists who have voiced their support for under-fire Team Sky boss David Brailsford.

The two-time British National Road Race champion has taken to Twitter to give his backing to the general manager and former performance director of the Manchester-based UCI World Tour team.

British cycling is under the spotlight at the moment after Russian hackers released confidential information last year about Bradley Wiggins regarding the former Tour de France winner’s alleged use of TUE’s.

The cycling superstar was given three therapeutic use exemptions for anti-inflammatory drug triamcinolone to treat his asthma on the eve of the prestigious Criterium de Dauphine in 2011, the same year he won Le Tour.

There have been calls for Brailsford to step down from his role as general manager at the British team, but a number of riders have been quick to quell rumours of discontent within the Sky ranks.

Manxman Kennaugh took to Twitter to say: ’I think all the riders on Team Sky would join me in saying they are completely behind Dave Brailsford.’

The Manxman’s team-mate and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Geraint Thomas also tweeted:

’It shouldn’t even need saying, but we all back Dave B 100 per cent!

’I’ve known him a long time and I wouldn’t want anyone else leading Team Sky,’

Elia Viviani, the man who beat Mark Cavendish to Olympic gold in the men’s omnium in Brazil last summer, was also quick to voice his support, simply saying:

’100 per cent we’re all behind Dave B.

’He’s the leader of our super Team Sky.’
