Olympian Tim Kneale and fellow Manx athlete Jake Keeling attended the last Great Britain double trap selection shoot of the year at the weekend.

It was the last UK major before the Commonwealth Games next April.

The event was at the Nuthampstead Shooting ground in Hertfordshire where shooters from around the British Isles tested themselves against the targets in hope of achieving their home nation qualifying standards.

Because double trap has been removed from the next Olympic Games, Kneale has been focused upon the Olympic trap event under the guidance of governing body British Shooting, meaning he had not shot double trap for 11 months since returning from the Rio Olympic Games last summer.

Day one was the first GB selection shoot where the six-man final was made up of competitors from England (French and Dedman), Scotland (McMath), Wales (Andrews) and Kneale of the Isle of Man.

The new final format sees 80 targets shot with elimination at various stages - lowest score exits. Tim finished second on the day behind David McMath.

Day two saw the second GB selection with the British championship title also being contested over the 150-target qualification stage.

Kneale started strongly with a perfect 30/30, but despite posting another perfect score to finish he couldn’t hold off fellow Olympian Steve Scott from taking the British trophy and title on 143/150.

Tim was satisfied with a score of 141/150 and a silver medal, having put so much of his efforts this year into another Olympic discipline.

Jake Keeling had a successful trip, also posting two Isle of Man qualification scores and finishing within the top 10 over the weekend.

Former IoM Sportsman of the Year, Tim Kneale, would like to thank RL360 and Manx Sport Aid Foundation for their valued support helping him achieve at a national and international level over the years.
