With half-term over it is time to get back to Manx hockey’s league fixtures in what promises to be a monumental second half of the season.

During the break, Vikings women’s A team had two results reversed against them for fielding an ineligible player.

This has resulted in what can only be described as a lifeline for both Valkyrs and Bacchas in the Women’s Premier Division.

Bacchas were bottom of the league and the two points handed to them has dragged Ramsey back into a relegation dogfight.

Valkyrs and Castletown both sit level on points at the top of the league with Vikings four points behind but with a game in hand and to play both sides.

Vikings’ recovery from their setback begins this weekend against Bacchas A and you can guarantee that the All Blacks will be out to prove a point.

Meanwhile, Ramsey A will look to take home both points on offer to boost their survival hopes when they face Castletown A.

In the Men’s Premier League, Vikings A will look to further distance themselves from two poor showings before the half-term break and beat Ramsey to try and keep hold of second place.

Bacchas play Vikings’ second string who, despite punching well above their weight in this league, will do well to get anything out of their opponents who are hunting for a seventh title in seven years.

Castletown A will look to earn points against Valkyrs A in what was a very close game last time that Valkyrs won thanks to a last-minute goal.

Castletown were comprehensively beaten in mid-week but should they be able to field their strongest side they might get something from this game.

Bacchas B will be aiming to continue their resurgence in Women’s Division One after a poor start to their campaign by attempting to beat Vikings B.

So far this season it is 1-1 between the two sides and this should be a close game.

Harlequins A will attempt to aid their relegation battle against Valkyrs B, but on form it will be a massive ask for Quins to win.

Men’s Division One title favourites Saracens take on the plucky Vikings C this weekend and, although it should be a one-sided affair, Vikings have shown that they relish a challenge.

With Harlequins A having had two results reversed for fielding an ineligible player, it doesn’t look like anyone can catch Saracens now at the top of the league.

Quins do have the opportunity to take second place should they be able to beat Valkyrs B by six clear goals or more.

Bacchas B will guarantee their survival in this league if they beat relegation favourites Ramsey B.
