Isle of Man junior karting star Linken Bevan claimed a podium finish at the last round of the 2021 British Kart Championship.

Competing in the TKZ cadet class on the PF International Kart Circuit in Lincolnshire, Linken received a late invite to join the championship finale.

The PFi track is a course that the youngster had been dreaming of racing on ever since he started his karting journey exactly five years ago this month.

After finishing fourth on the opening day of the round, the second day proved to be a different story.

In the first two heats Linken finished seventh and ninth place in the number 10 kart which didn’t seem to have a lot of pull, much to the alarm of Linken and his grandad Eric.

They spoke to the Rob Smedley Total Karting team who agreed that the Manx competitor needed to swap to the number six kart. When he did, the battle commenced.

After a few laps, Sutton Bassett racer Joel Dixon-Coen began to pull away from the battle between Linken and Essex youngster Calum Foster.

But with only a couple of laps to go, Dixon-Coe and Foster ended up in the barrier after a complete misjudgement in the wet conditions, resulting in a five-second time penalty.

In the end, Kent’s William Sparrow clinched first place, with Linken taking second ahead of Dixon-Coen in third.

Next year Linken is hoping to join the Summer British Championships and therefore will be off-island for a considerable amount of time.

This type of sport doesn’t come cheap and his family is desperate to help Linken reach his dreams.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Linken should get in touch with his grandad Eric on 243842 or his mother Victoria on 421189. All forms of sponsorship are greatly appreciated.
