James Hind followed up his dramatic Lightweight Classic TT podium earlier in the week with an unofficial junior class lap record in Tuesday afternoon’s Manx Grand Prix qualifying session.
Hind lapped at an average speed of 121.105mph on his Yamaha YZF-R6 in the session that followed the day’s earlier MGP Newcomers’ race.
Although lap records around the Mountain Course are only official if set during a race, the Lincolnshire rider will undoubtedly start favourite for Wednesday morning’s Junior and Friday’s Senior Manx Grand Prix Races.
Manxman Nathan Harrison (120.221mph) and Andrew Fisher (120.217mph) both posted their fastest times of the week in the same session while Daniel Ingham stopped the clock at 119.792 on his Senior Suzuki bike. 2018 Junior and Senior podium finisher Stephen Parsons (119.341mph) will also be in contention for the win in both races.
In the Lightweight class, Francesco Curinga on the Bemar Racing Team Paton improved his fastest time of the week to 114.51mph ahead of tomorrow’s first MGP Supporters Club Lightweight Race while Alistair Sinclair on the CSC Racing Yamaha topped the leaderboard in the Ultra-Lightweight class. Newcomers didn’t participate in the session following their race earlier in the day.Australian Royce Rowe crashed at Alpine approaching Ballaugh during the qualifying session suffering multiple fractures.He is described as being in a 'critical' condition and is expected to be transferred to the UK for further treatment.
