The combined start to the 5km, 10km and 20km walks that formed the centrepiece to the Manx Harriers Open meeting round the National Sports Centre perimeter road on Saturday.

The events, as usual, were well supported by competitors from Ireland.

Making the early bow waves are Anthony Tobin (No.91) of Calomel, the eventual winner of the 10km race from fellow Irishman Joe Mooney (53) of Adamstown.

Far left, Maria Flynn (77) of Naas, was fourth in the 5km, Nicholas Dunphy (92) of KCH, Ireland was sixth in the 10km and Nicky Connerly (75) of Castlecomer was fifth in the 5km.

Peel’s Hannah Hunter (far right, red vest) of the host club, produced a superb performance to win the 20km event.
