Among the 30 newcomers  preparing to make their debuts in the Manx Grand Prix is just one local, Mike Brew of Kirk Michael No.5.

The newcomers will lead the first practice away on Saturday afternoon with a speed-controlled lap, scheduled for 5.20pm. Roads close at 5pm round the whole of the course.

The Newcomers race will take place on August bank holiday Monday, August 26.

The overall field for the MGP has a decidedly international feel with competitors from all over Europe, as well as America, Australia, New Zealand and Russia.

IoM TT Marshals’ Association is reminding all registered marshals who have not already done so to sign-on and confirm their attendances as soon as possible. There are still areas around the course where the team would appreciate some more support, especially across the mountain and away from the towns in and around the west of the island.

Marshals do not need to commit to every session across the fortnight, but whatever time they can offer does help support the riders, the teams and the event - whether that’s marshalling the evening practice sessions after work or coming out for race sessions during the weekends or week days.
