There is an entry of 206 competitors for the 11th annual Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service’s memorial walk this Sunday.

This includes 17 for the newly0introduced ’short’ race from Peel to Bride, a distance of 32 kilometres.

The figure compares well to 2016 when there were only 103 finishers from 116 starters.

The full race to Ramsey fire station, via Kirk Michael, Ballaugh, Jurby, Andreas and Sulby is 50km, approximately 30 miles.

Organised in memory of staff, the Firefighters’ Charity provides support to those who require it.

The race will start from Peel Fire Station at 8.30am.

Leading contenders are likely to include Sam Fletcher, Dave Walker, Karen Chiarello, Aaron Kneale, Robbie Callister, Michael Bonney, Chris Cale, Richard Wild, Sue Biggart, Maureen Moffatt, Suzannah Corkill and Karen Lawrie.
