Jamie and Danny McCanney teamed up with Gavin Hunt to win the Farleigh Castle Vets MX in Somerset on Saturday.

Danny was third in race one on his 1998 380cc KTM, Jamie fifth on his father’s 1996 CR500 Honda, and Gav 37th on a Suzuki RM250 in a field of 60 riders.

The final race was also won by three-time European champion Brad Anderson, with Danny fourth (and quickest lap of race), Jamie sixth and Gav 25th.

‘The overall result was an unexpected,’ said Danny. ‘We were hoping to make the podium, but to win overall is great.’

Sean Skillicorn was eighth in the over-60s class won by former leading AMA Supercross rider Doug Dubach.

A fortnight earlier the same trio were at the VMXDN international at Hawkstone Park, Shropshire.

For bikes up to 2003 manufacture, they rode the same machines as above. Jamie qualified fourth quickest, but elder sibling Danny finished highest (fourth overall) with a 12th and two fifths. Jamie was 13th overall with a 27th (chain off/jammed), third and 13th; Hunt 23rd (26th, 21st, 24th).

The overall winner was former Red Bull KTM rider Tommy Searle.

Max Ingham won the Evo Ultra Open Group 2 class from Jamie Law and Rene Boar with two wins and a third.

He teamed up with the McCanneys to finish third in the Wright’s Engineering Team event eligible for bikes up to 2008.

Max was fourth in race one on a YZ250 Yamaha, with Danny seventh on a similar mount and Jamie ninth on a Honda CR250. Jamie was fourth in race two, Max fifth and Danny 25th after a poor start. Overall, Jamie was sixth, Danny 10th and Max 11th.

Matthew Lund finished eighth overall in the Bell Evo Plus Open (9th and 10th), with elder brother Mark 17th overall in Super Evo class (18th, 19th, 21st).
