The final two solo Andreas Racing Association club championships were decided at Jurby Motordrome on Sunday.

The Vintage MCC Novice and Clubman’s finale was all about two Jacks and a Jake.

Port Erin’s Jack Meechan secured the title with a brace of wins on his 600 Honda, beating Jack Haybyrne and Jake Roberts respectively.

Meechan’s closest rival, Kirk Michael’s Jim Hasdell, was level on points with him prior to the final round but he ran off at post one in the first race and then had a crash at the same corner in the second race, scuppering his championship ambitions.

Fergus Coulter and Spencer Qualtrough swapped first and seconds in the two Novice B races.

Ballaugh’s Ozzy Madey took the CB500 championship from experienced racer Tomo Burnett, despite the latter being first CB500 home in each.

Alexander Galloway of Peel rode his Honda NC30 to a double success in the concurrently-run Lightweight race, first and second over the line overall.

Aron Redmond rode his Aprilia RS660 enjoyed double joy in the Post-Classic races, each time chased home at a fairly narrow margin by Rob Brew’s leading Single, Twin, Triple Kawasaki 650 ridden by Paul Cassidy.

And there was another double for Redmond over Cassidy in the Supertwin/Sportbike, where Meechan took the Pre-injection 600 spoils.

Fresh from a fine MGP debut, Kyle Casement won the opening Supersport by a mere 0.25 of a second from Galloway, who won the second from George Hadaway and Jason Corcoran in Casement’s absence. Galloway finished 17s ahead but was deducted 10s for jumping the start.

It’s rare that the premier class gets the lowest billing, but with only three starters in the first race and two finishes in the second, it hardly deserves more.

That’s a shame for Marcus Simpson who won both Open Solo Centre Championship races on his new BMW from Ryan Cringle aboard the Ducati V2 that Johnny Stewart rode to a double MGP success last month.

The quality of riders and machinery were top class, even if numbers were bitterly disappointing.

Marcus and Ryan were getting some track time in before representing the Isle of Man in next week’s Celtic Match Races.
