The return of the cold snap has led to the postponement of the two road race events planned for the north of the island today (Sunday).

The bitterly cold conditions and light snow showers forced Andreas Racing Association and Ellan Vannin Cycling Club to call off their respective scheduled races at Jurby.

The latter club’s Roy Killey Memorial Road Race was set to take place on the Jurby/Ballamoar course starting at 9am, but the decision was made at first light to call the event off.

The curtain-raiser to the local motorcycle road race season on the former airfield (Jurby Motodrome) was also abandoned as a result of the weather.

The events have not yet been rescheduled.
