The Isle of Man’s cyclists claimed a bronze medal on Monday at the NatWest Island Games in Gotland.

First in action for the Manx were the women in the time trial around Westerby just outside Visby and leading the local charge was Kate Priest who completed the distance in just under an hour, crossing the line in 59 minutes 50.03 seconds which was good enough for a fine eighth place.

Carolyn Brown was only six seconds back in 10th place while Tara Ferguson was 11th and Eleanor Davies was 18th, those positions seeing the Manx women claim the final step on the team podium.

There was was heartbreak for the men though as they were denied a bronze of their own, just missing out to third-placed Faroe Islands in the team event.

Matt Draper was the fastest Manxie as he claimed an impressive fifth place in 51.09 while Conor Davies was 14th, Thomas Bostock 20th, Adam Kelly 21st and Rob Sorby 30th.
