Isle of Man Athletics Association has launched a new track and field league which is to be sponsored by Newfield.
Previously athletes from each of the island’s T&F clubs competed separately in their own track and field leagues.
This summer all athletes from age groups under-13 upwards will compete against each other over six meetings at the NSC outdoor track, culminating in the Isle of Man Track and Field Championships in August.
Hannah Riley, athletics development officer, commented: ’The Isle of Man Track and Field League is a really exciting development for athletics in the island and we are delighted that Newfield are supporting it.
’Newfield are a forward-thinking firm that support amazing initiatives including progressions in sport.
’I feel they are the perfect partner to support this exciting development in Isle of Man Athletics.’
Newfield is a locally-based company within the island’s egaming sector, with a focus on international sporting events.
The company is committed to investing in and developing local talent in the island and giving back to the community.
Mark Reynolds, Newfield’s director and chief operating officer stated: ’We are very excited to be supporting the athletics clubs through this new development.
’We admire the passion and resilience Hannah and Isle of Man athletics committee have shown to bring this idea to fruition and we are delighted to be a part of the journey.’
Signing on for the league will take place this Thursday at Manx Harriers’ clubhouse from 5.30-7.30pm.
The league competition dates are as follows: April 3, May 1, May 22, June 12, June 26 and July 24.
