The third round of the Zurich Junior Mountain Bike Series took place on Sunday at a sunny but breezy Conrhenny Plantation.
The youngest riders got away first, utilising the newly-laid Loughtan Lambs trail, and it was close racing from the off in the bumblebees class with Evan Henderson holding off Ffinlo Cannell by half a wheel for the win and Oliver Halligan took third.
Isla Kennington took the lead in the hornets but the following bunch was tightly packed as they jostled for position. Arthur Ward came unstuck at Billy Goats Bumps, allowing Abe Cain and Cameron Kyle to take second and third respectively.
In the dragonflies class, Jesse Thomas took the win from William McAlister and Ethan Burgess.
Onto the longer course and under-eights series leader Freddie Fargher unfortunately didn’t finish, but Poppy Clayton continued her great form to take the lead and the win.
Oliver Kennington was second again with David Leece third, while Ffinlo Williamson came home 15th after taking a long detour through the forest!
Daniel Minay recorded his second win of the season in the u10s, with Cameron Hounsell in second and Abbie Clayton third.
The u12s and u14s ran together, with the front runners being led by Oscar Gaylor for the first half.
Orry Lund lost the tow after a slight stumble and, on the last lap with the front bunch catching younger riders, Cian Howard and Ivan Sorby pulled ahead.
At the flag it was Cian who got the u12s win from Oscar and Freddie Griffin who rode well to stay with the older riders. The u14s honours went to Ivan Sorby ahead of round two winner Callum Salisbury.
Organisers wish to thank Zurich, Loughtan Loaded and all the marshalls and helpers.
The fourth round takes place on Sunday, June 30 again at Conrhenny.
