Manx Hockey Association’s men’s and women’s outdoor leagues return to action this Saturday following a two-week break.
In Rossborough Men’s Division One, three teams all sit level on points in the relegation battle with only four strikes separating them on goal difference.
Castletown A face the daunting task of taking on the undefeated league leaders in the form of Bacchas B, while Vikings C take on second-placed Harlequins A.
The side most likely to move away from the relegation zone is Valkyrs B who take on a weakened Vikings B team who are without their main centre-back Chris Hyde through injury and captain Ian Perry is also unable to play.
In the Women’s Premier League, Castletown A will be aiming to overcome Ramsey A and move above them into third place, while Valkyrs A are hoping to get the better of Saracens A as they continue to challenge league leaders Vikings A.
The latter side will be in action at the NSC where they take on a Bacchas side sitting perilously close to the relegation zone, two points ahead of bottom-placed Saracens.
In Rossborough Men’s Premier League, Saracens A take on Vikings A on their own pitch and will be hoping that they can improve on their performance against Ramsey A.
Elsewhere, Bacchas A will be confident of retaining top spot when they take on Ramsey A who have - by their own standards - endured an inconsistent season.
Valkyrs B will be confident of continuing their unbeaten run of five games in Rossborough Women’s Division One when they take on Castletown B. The latter have impressed in patches this season but haven’t quite been able to convert their performances into the wins they probably deserve.
Vikings B began the season poorly but recorded two back-to-back wins heading into the mid-season break and will want to continue that form when they take on Harlequins A who started the campaign in fine form but have tailed off recently.
Rossborough Men’s Division Two is by far the tightest league of them all, with four teams all level on six points each while the three bottom teams all sit on two points.
With Bacchas Colts facing off against Valkyrs C, they will be hopeful of a win to keep pace with the teams above them, while Ramsey B and Castletown B will be aiming to make the most of the opportunity to open up a lead against the other.
Saracens B have surprised a few teams this year with their form and currently sit top, therefore they will be favourites to continue that run when they take on Harlequins B.
Vikings C have the best defence across all of the divisions this season with zero goals conceded and few will bet against them beating Bacchas C on Saturday to continue their undefeated campaign.
Saracens B will be looking to move off the bottom of the table when they take on Valkyrs C.SAM SPOONER
