The Rigid Turkey off-road pairs cycle relay took place round Noble’s Park on Sunday.
The 18 teams were handicapped, making for an exciting race.
Early leader Adey Harrison was set-up by partner Les Corran, but the former came off in the mud, blowing his moment of glory.
Next up was Andy Bass, looking splendid in new sunglasses, partnered by youngster Will Curphey.
They held the lead until hard-charging Elliot Baxter and Oscar Gaylor took over. The latter duo then exchanged the lead with Zac Walker and James Harrison for the next 30 minutes.
Hopes of a last-lap showdown were dashed when Oscar’s bike broke and he had to run half-a-lap, leaving Walker and Harrison Jr to romp home for overall victory.
Max Walker/Ralf Holden took the Young Guns Bell, holding off Corrin Leeming/Matthew Cooil for second and third overall respectively.
The closest battle of the day was for the Veterans Old Bat Trophy between Simon Skillicorn/Stuart Grunsell and Pete Harrison/Trevor Kirkwood.
With only one lap to go, Grunsell saved his partner’s blushes and took the honours with a blistering Tokyo drift-style lap.
Kirree Quayle rode superbly to take the mixed doubles cup alongside last-minute partner James Hinchcliffe.
l Thank you to all the people who made the Isle of Man’s only cross-bike event happen. All the proceeds are to be donated to the James Berry Fund.
