Eagle are the visitors to Mooragh Park this Saturday as Ramsey’s league season draws to a conclusion.

The Warrington-based club are no strangers to the island, although after a league restructure two seasons ago they haven’t played at Mooragh Park since September 2015 when they won 33-31.

They played the earlier part of this season in the northern half of South Lancashire/Cheshire Three and just squeezed through in fourth place to make phase two of the promotion chase.

Like Ramsey though, they’re now out of the promotion push and this weekend is a little end of season mini tour, with the squad staying overnight and no doubt contributing to the island’s liquidity.

Ramsey were disappointed to lose away at Birchfield on Saturday.

They lost by nine but felt that they left tries out there on the pitch.

The big news for Ramsey this week is the return of club legend John F. Watling.

He’s been absent since January 27 on an extended holiday and had a trot with the seconds last week so should be good to go this Saturday.

Matt Livesey and Nathan Thompson were also both unable to travel last week as was Chris Hardisty.

The availability of all these will give the selectors a pleasant headache.

There are no worries for the number three jersey where man mountain Michéal Flynn will lead his team out for the 28th time this season.

It’s also Ladies’ Day at the Mooragh Park as the WAGs attend for their annual fun day, so there should be a real party atmosphere after the game which kicks off at 3pm.
