While the Manx Shield hasn’t yet been resolved, the two traditional end-of-season finals will take place this weekend at Douglas’s Port-e-Chee ground.
At 1.30pm Western Vikings and Emerging Nomads will square up for the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, then at 3pm Southern Nomads will take on Douglas Celts for the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy.
Vikings were outplayed in the Plate final last Saturday but should fare better against Emerging Nomads.
The southern club will be a little stretched this weekend with two fixtures and, provided the Peel men aren’t two damaged from last week, they may well be a little stronger.
In the Trophy final the game could really go either way. Douglas won in the league phases of the competition but the sides are one apiece in the Manx Shield and look likely to meet in a play off for that title in two weeks’ time.
I watched Douglas Celts last week and I think that if they have a similar squad available, they will prove just a little too organised for Nomads.
