Four-time former Isle of Man Snooker Champion Peter Reynolds died suddenly on August 26 following a fall in his home the previous day.

Isle of Man Snooker Association chairman Ken Kinrade was one of the first to comment on the death of the man fondly known as ’Potsy’.

’It is very sad to learn of Peter’s death.

’Potsy was a great champion winning the very first Bill Cowell Trophy for the island championship in 1980. He went on to win it three years in succession and four times altogether.

’As his nickname suggests, he was a prolific and rapid break-builder and made several centuries in the league, not to mention the numerous other individual and team competitions that he won.

’He represented the island on many occasions at world championships, home internationals and inter-island competitions and it is a great shame that illness cut his career short.

’There are many both on and off-island who will mourn his passing and our thoughts go out to Serena and Peter’s family.’

Among the many to have paid tribute to the 64-year-old is former world No.8 Darren Morgan who commented: ’Really sad to hear this news. Peter was a real gentleman and a very good player - real sad news.

’Got a lot of fond memories with Potsy. Condolences to his family, he will be sadly missed.’

Peter’s son Chris paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, saying: ’He was a truly remarkable man in every way, loved and admired by so many for his kind, caring and loving character. My hero and my mentor and so proud and grateful he was my dad x.’

Peter’s funeral/celebration of his life will take place tomorrow (Friday) from 11am at St Mary’s Church, Douglas.
