Isle of Man Sport Aid recipient and Under-21 Sportswoman of the Year Sinead Cox is looking forward to a busy season in 2022.

Having been in the top three in more than 65 affiliated national classes last year, as well as claiming three international wins and jumping over 85 doubles, she hopes for even better results this year.

’I have a great team of horses for the coming year’, says Sinead. ’My two older horses have been with me for a few years now and we’ve developed good partnerships.

’They have both already qualified for the British Showjumping Members Cup final at the national championships and Cando 6 has also qualified for the 130 final as well as the 125 Blue Chip Winter final.

’My young horse Kydan Mayberry (Cara) that we bought unbroken last year has exceeded all expectations. She has qualified for the Blue Chip Winter Championships in both the novice and discovery finals. She has also qualified for the second rounds in the novice and discovery, and it would be great to qualify for the nationals in either of these classes.

’We will probably move her up to newcomers (110cm) by the end of the year, although she’s not five until June and is scopey and careful so we will take our time with her.

’In addition, we have two young mares from the Donkhoeve stud in Belgium sourced with my trainer through Babes Sporthorses. They are lovely young mares and are now broken and jumping a small course of jumps at home so hopefully will make their ring debut in the early summer.’

Sinead has been to two shows so far this year, coming home with two firsts, a second, a third and a fourth so a solid start having not been in the ring for three months.

’I am also thrilled to welcome Epico as sponsors’, continued Cox. ’Epico was started by local businesswoman Stephanie Gardner and produce riding leggings in a variety of colours.

’They’re very comfortable and retail at an extremely competitive price and I’m delighted to be able to promote their brand.’

Sinead would also like to thank Sport Aid, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and her trainer Mark McCourt for their ongoing support and assistance.
