Traditionally, the Isle of Man tennis has been successful in its pursuit of ‘precious metals’ bringing gold, silver and bronze back to the Rock from nearly every Island Games event since their inception in 1985.

With the rise of players such as Loughborough University based Laura Feely and world ranked professional Billy Harris, the team has cemented its status in recent years as a dominant force at the Games.

For Isle of Man Tennis to continue its success, the team needs to fund its travel and accommodation.

There has been a terrific team effort by all squad members since the last games, driven by the exceptional organisational experience of team managers Daphne and Hannah Snidal.

This year, it was agreed that it was necessary to bring something different to the fundraising table.

In conjunction with ‘Raise The Bar’, a bespoke mobile cocktail bar service, owned by team member James Buxton, the team hosted a cocktail and beer pong evening at Cronkbourne Cricket Club.

For the price of admission, guests were served cocktails, with tennis themed treats on the menu; the most popular drinks of the evening being the ‘French Open Martini’, ‘Match Point Mojito’, ‘Vamos!’ and the ‘Long Island Iced Tsonga’.

Overall, thanks to a doubles effort from Island Games Tennis, Cronkbourne Cricket Club and Raise The Bar, the evening was a success with a substantial amount generously passed over the bar towards the cause.

The Island Games Tennis team would like to thank all friends, family and ex-competitors who showed their support. You contributed to a great evening and it was fantastic to introduce fresh faces into the island’s tennis scene!

Also, a massive thank you to everyone at Cronkbourne Cricket Club, without which, the evening would not have been possible.
