West Coast Riding Club held its penultimate event of the year recently, hosting a Tynwald Day gymkhana and showjumping.
There was a variety of different equine themes and no shortage of entertainment for those competing or spectating.
The day started off with the Mounted Games with five different heats: bending; Tynwald (competitors constructing their every own Tynwald Hill); jousting; obstacle course; sweets and flour.
This was followed by the clear rounds, starting with the lead rein bunny hop and the bunny hop cross poles.
The next classes were the tack and turnout (junior and senior) followed by horse and hound, with junior and senior equestrians completing a round of jumps before taking a dog around an agility course.
The remaining classes were the show-jumping rounds, starting with the bareback jumping and sprog hop straight poles, culminating in the following heights: novice 55cm, intermediate 65cm, 75cm, 85cm, 95cm and open 105cm.
A good day was enjoyed by everyone who competed, officiated and spectated.
West Coast has one more event provisionally planned for later in the year - further details will be released if it goes ahead.
New members to the club are most welcome.
