Vital points were up for grabs when Isle of Man Kart Racing Association’s summer championship drew to a close at Jurby on Sunday.

The tension was evident in all the classes despite the good weather conditions, with the bambino class sponsored by HJ Handyman Services getting the action underway.

A field of six bambinos took to the grid but it was young Harvey-J Wagstaffe who got off to a good start and claimed a full house of wins throughout the heats.

The final was a similar affair as Harvey-J flew out of the traps and increased his lead lap after lap to take the win and the ’O’ plate, setting the fastest lap of 67.41 seconds along the way.

There was some good racing between novice driver Charlie Gregg and Benjamin Corlett for the remaining podium positions, but it was the former who ultimately claimed second with Benjamin third.

Special mention to Leo Ruddock, Amelia Jordan and young Leo Mylchreest on his debut appearance who all improved their lap times throughout the day.

There was some close racing among the 13 drivers in the Honda Cadet Extreme class sponsored by J&J Construction.

Linken Bevan shone throughout to take a full house of wins in the heats and final, claiming the ’O’ plate and setting a fastest lap of 53s.

There was a good battle between all the remaining drivers who showcased a lot of talent between them all, but in the end it was Jayjay Plowman who squeezed home to secure second place ahead of Eddie Dillon in third.

In the Landscape-sponsored Mini Max class, Jaiden Hewett claimed his first full house of wins in the heats and then also clinched the final to secure the ’O’ plate, setting the fastest lap of 48.73s. He was followed by Bobby Cowin, Mikhaella Harris and Cameron Cannan.

Nicolas Ellis claimed the opening heat in the Junior Rotax class sponsored by Man Construction Ltd, with Jay Pearson winning the remaining heats.

The final saw these two drivers battle it out, but it was the latter who managed to take the win and the ’O’ plate followed by Nicolas Ellis, Fenella Lane and Jake Hooper. Pearson set the fastest lap of 46.73s.

Jake Subachus claimed a full house of wins throughout in the Libre class sponsored by BVS Vehicles, setting a fastest lap of 46.39s. He was followed by Ash Lewandowskyj.

There were some strong contenders in the Senior Honda Extreme class sponsored by EVF. As 18 karts took to the grid, it was Dan Fielden who got off to a flying start and claimed all three heats.

The final saw some intense racing throughout the field but it was Fielden who was on pole once the flag dropped before managed to take charge into the first bend and went on to lead every lap.

There was no room for any mistakes as Liam McCann and Terry Rigaux were hot on his heels, but Fielden managed to hold them off and claim the chequered flag as well as the ’O’ plate. He was followed by McCann and Rigaux in second and third respectively, while the latter set the fastest lap of 51.43s.

Thanks go to the clerk of the course Kevin Christian, all the marshals, medic, Helen Barnett, Heather Millar and Johno’s for serving hot food and drinks throughout.

The next meeting is the first of the winter rounds on Sunday, October 24 - spectators most welcome.
