Max Ingham powered into the lead in the Isle of Man Centre ACU motocross championship with his third straight round win in succession on Sunday.
Having missed the opening round of the series pre-lockdown, the 19-year-old bricklayer/mason from Greeba has played catch-up since with a second behind Danny McCanney plus three wins in successive weekends.
The latest was at Peveril MC&LCC’s Knock Froy where conditions were a little tricky after heavy rain in much of the preceding 18 hours, but generally the track was in prime condition.
He gave a masterclass display, winning all three races on his Roland Shaw’s Hardcore Racing 450 Yamaha, two from Craig Norrey and the other from Jack Collins in the middle moto.
Two of the stars of the day were teenagers Luke Saunders and Jack Keenan.
Having only made his open class debut at West Kimmeragh a week earlier, 15-year-old Saunders was third in the opening two races on his recently-acquired 125 Husqvarna, and fifth in the last when Chris Moore grabbed third and 14-year-old Jack Keenan fourth, having been fifth and fourth in the previous two motos on his 125 Yamaha.
Saunders and Keenan placed first and second in the 125 class as a consequence, with Grant Skeoch third (eighth overall).
Liam Smith took the honours in the opening 85/150 Big-wheel race, but friend and rival Beau Brown won the remaining two with Smith second and third in the last when Ryan Christian finished runner-up.
Similarly, Harry Shand won the opening 85cc Small-wheel event, but Travis Meechan recovered well after getting stuck in the mud following a small off in that race to win the remaining two and the seal the overall honours on a tie-break of most wins.
Josh Blackley, Alfie Mathieson-Nelson, Callum Christian and Sean Crowe all rode well in the battle for third.
The stylish Jacob Wilson again mopped up in the 65cc class, with Toby Lang showing great consistency to take three seconds. Marley Meechan and Herbie Hampton fought hard throughout the day for third. Lucian France and Connor McIver showed real courage in finishing all their races for fourth and fifth respectively.
Things were tight in the well-supported automatic class with Stanley Dentith scoring two wins and a third to edge it from Riley Faragher (third, first and second), with Leo Gray a close third (two seconds and a third).
The club wishes to thank all riders, lap scorers, marshals and medics for their efforts throughout the day.
l The final round of the Centre motocross championship (and Peveril MCC club series) is on November 15 at Knock Froy.
