Saracens Sabres could win the Rossborough Mixed Division One hockey titles this weekend should they beat Harlequins A and Bacchas B lose to Valkyrs B.

Although Bacchas B are favourites to beat Valkyrs and ensure that Saracens’ Champagne is put on ice, Valkyrs B are a very good side and the last time the two sides met the match ended in a draw. A draw wouldn’t be good enough for Saracens who will be hoping Valkyrs can overcome a well-drilled Bacchas B side.

Harlequins are unlikely to provide much resistance to Saracens who scored a huge 17 goals past them the last time the two sides met.

Ramsey Ravens will be hoping that they can ensure their safety is in their own hands when they take on Bacchas C in what should be a close encounter between the two sides.

In the Rossborough Mixed Premier League, Castletown Celts’ fate could be more or less sealed if they fail to overcome Valkyrs A and Ramsey A somehow overcome the best in the business, Bacchas A.

Elsewhere, Castletown will be aiming to earn themselves points when they take on a developing Valkyrs A team.

Town have shown patches of ability so far this season and do have a chance to earn points in this clash, but it will still be a big ask against the westerners.

The inter-club derby between Vikings A versus Vikings B has been moved to next Tuesday as Vikings women are playing against Alderley Edge in the England Hockey Championships Tier 2.

Following last week’s shock for Vikings C, they attempt to continue taking the fight to the championship leaders when they tackle the mercurial Bacchas Colts, while Saracens Colts face off against Castletown Cammags.

The latter have been a bit up and down with their form this year and on their day are capable of causing an upset this weekend, but it is impossible to label the Saracens side anything but favourites.

Elsewhere, Valkyrs C take on Harlequins Colts with the Douglas-based side looking to earn some points in their battle for survival.

Vikings D could be celebrating after their game on Saturday should they overcome a Valkyrs D side determined to wreck their party.

A Vikings D win secures them the title with two games left to play and, given their form so far this year, no-one is betting against them taking the title this weekend.

While Valkyrs endeavour to prevent the title being decided early, the rest of the teams are continuing to fight to keep the title battle going for another week at least.

Vikings Colts take on Castletown Southerners in what could be a deciding fixture for the tussle for second place, while Bacchas D take on Saracens Sharks in what will be the friendliest game of the day, and Ramsey Rookies take on Harlequins B.
