There are no fewer than four matches between the top two sides taking place in the various Manx Hockey Association divisions this Saturday.
With an exciting weekend of hockey ahead and plenty at stake in the title races, no-one is taking anything for granted and it should be a great day for the spectators.
First up is the Rossborough Men’s Premier League which sees both Bacchas A and Vikings tied on points with four wins out of four each - the latter sit top of the league on account of goal difference but there is only one goal in it.
This match could see a winner-takes-all situation for the rest of the season. As with past matches, both teams leave nothing to spare in their quest for glory.
Bacchas A have the advantage over the past few years but Vikings are an up and coming squad with some good experience. Whatever happens, this match is definitely worth a watch.
Elsewhere in this division, Vikings B take on Valkyrs A and Ramsey A will look to close the gap at the top of the table when they face Valkyrs B.
In the Rossborough Women’s Premier League, Bacchas A will be aiming to continue their good start to the season when they face a very strong Vikings A side.
The latter sit top of the league undefeated at the moment and also have a game in hand, but Bacchas A have already taken a point out of Valkyrs A so Vikings will need to be on top form.
Elsewhere, third-placed Castletown A take on Valkyrs A and, with both sides looking to take away second place from Bacchas, the two teams will be giving everything to take all the points on offer.
Last but not least, Ramsey A take on Valkyrs B with the northerners being the favourites tag to claim victory.
Rossborough Men’s Division One also sees a huge top-of-the-table clash with Castletown A looking to earn promotion back into the top flight and Bacchas B also aiming to earn their spot, therefore this game takes on vast importance even early on in the season.
Both these sides have emerged as the teams to beat, with Castletown’s sheer will to win having taken victory from the jaws of defeats already, while Bacchas B have dominated all teams they have faced so far.
One thing is for sure there will be fireworks in this game with the two sides desperate to stamp their authority on the championship challenge.
Elsewhere in this division, Harlequins A take on Castletown B with both sides bottom of the league on one point apiece but the former take the position of favourites.
The final top-of-the-table clash sees Vikings C take on Castletown C in Rossborough Women’s Division Two.
Both sides have lost one game this season but currently sit two points clear of the chasing pack, therefore whoever wins this match must be seen as favourites for the title.
The other teams all sit two points behind, showing how close this league is with both Bacchas C and Ramsey B wanting to showcase their own title credentials when they meet this weekend.
