After wind and rain decimated last Saturday’s fixture list, Manx hockey will be hoping the current prediction for a quieter weekend of weather comes to fruition.

Storm clouds are likely to persist, however, for the bottom two in PwC Mixed Premier Division - Bacchas B and Harlequins A - both face top sides as opposition.

With the fixture between the two clubs having been postponed last week, both have yet to score a point as we head into the second half of the season.

While Bacchas B face a club derby against their league-leading A side, Harlequins should carry more hope into their fixture against Valkyrs A, who they had a close game with last time round - the westerners struggling to make too much headway against Harlequins until the last 15 minutes.

The other fixture, Vikings A v Ramsey A, also offers some promise. Again this was relatively close in the last meeting of the teams and while Ramsey will now be buoyed with confidence having won a couple of games, Vikings will be disappointed to be three points off the lead of the Premier League and may not have the motivation they had earlier in the season.

PwC Mixed Division One sees a Castletown club derby with Celts still ruing the draw the two teams had last time round.

Valkyrs B will be looking to move off the bottom of the table by beating a Bacchas C team in a good run of form, and despite a couple of wins on the bounce, Saracens Sabres are likely to find the going tough against Vikings B.

Division Two is likely to see a strong week for the two Ramsey sides.

Both play Valkyrs teams and will expect to claim points from both with Ravens still favourites for the title.

The northerners, however, will know of the success of Vikings C, who play Bacchas Colts, and have the chance of springing a surprise.

The top teams will be keenly aware that there’s a chance the league will come down to goal difference and will look to exploit any weakness shown by the opposition.

While the under-16s take a half-term break, Division Three continues with a crucial tie between Harlequins Colts and Saracens Colts.

A win for the latter will set up a season showdown against Vikings to decide the title, while a win for Harlequins will create an enthralling three-way title race.

Vikings are likely to make easy work of Bacchas D, while Southerners and Harlequins is likely to prove close.
