Ben and Tom Birchall produced a staggering new lap record of 119.250mph (18min 59.018sec) on their way to a second sidecar victory of the week on Friday morning.
The Mansfield brothers (IEG Racing Honda) went five seconds under the record they set on Saturday to post the first sub-19 minute lap by a sidecar around the Mountain Course.
John Holden and Manx passenger Lee Cain initially led the three-lap locate.im-sponsored contest, but would ultimately finish 22.920s down on the victors on corrected time in their Silicone Engineering Honda outfit.
Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes (Carl Cox Motorsport Honda) were a further 15.778s down on Holden and Cain, meaning the top three mirrored exactly Saturday’s first race.
Ben Birchall said after the pair’s eighth TT victory: ’We just pushed and pushed- I’m over the moon. I saw boards saying 119mph, but I just had to ignore them and concentrate on the race!’
’This is the culmination of a big effort by everyone in the team.’
Runner-up Holden added: ’These kids are really pushing the envelope.
’We need to find a bit more for next year.’
The top three were comfortably ahead of the rest of the field Alan Founds and Jake Lowther finishing fourth, a minute and 17 seconds down on the podium places.
Lewis Blackstock/Patrick Rosney were fifth and Conrad Harrison and Andy Winkle sixth.
Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle retired on the final lap.
Manxman Karl Bennett and passenger Maxime Vasseur were 11th just ahead of impressive newcomers Michael Jackson and Harry Payne.
