Valkyrs B took a giant leap towards their promotion hopes in Rossborough Men’s Division One following a convincing win against Vikings B.

Although the first half ended only 1-0 to Valkyrs, a 10-minute period in the second half saw Vikings concede three fairly quick goals to ensure the points went west.

Vikings were missing one or two key players, with others stepping in to fill the gaps, but 13-year-old Ben Dougal produced an outstanding performance on his full senior debut, displaying a maturity and determination beyond his years.

Castletown A remain in with a chance of earning themselves promotion following their own convincing win against Bacchas Colts.

The southerners must win their next game against the westerners and also rely on Valkyrs dropping two points to stand a chance of claiming the title.

Elsewhere, Castletown B overcame Saracens B in the southern derby played in great spirits, while Ramsey B got past Bacchas C with Dan Stevenson recording a hat-trick.

Rossborough Women’s Division One involved only one game and, with no real meaning, the match saw Vikings C take the victory 4-1 through goals from under-16 Becca Kelly and Joeanna Roney.

The Under-16 matches provided some entertainment, with two of the title challengers recording convincing victories.

Vikings overcame Valkyrs to move within two points of second place, while Harlequins maintained their overall lead when overcoming Bacchas. One thing for sure is the fact that this league will come down to one or two key games to decide the ultimate outcome.

Unfortunately, due to the unavailability of players, Saracens were unable to field either their senior men’s A team or their under-16 side. This meant Ramsey A in the Rossborough Men’s Premier League and Ramsey Rogues and Rascals both received walkovers. In the latter’s case, it was a first win of the season.
