Vikings A opened up a two-point lead at the top of Rossborough Women’s Premier League, partly assisted by Bacchas who drew at home to Valkyrs A.
Although the latter has been the team to run Vikings closest in recent seasons, they are already three points adrift in the current title chase.
Vikings took advantage of this by defeating a plucky and determined Valkyrs B side, which on a number of occasions went close to scoring.
Elsewhere, Ramsey A and Castletown A played out a 1-1 draw.
This means that Vikings sit top of the table on six points, with the chasing four teams only separated by a single point.
In Rossborough Men’s Premier League both Vikings A and Bacchas A are already a huge five points ahead of everyone else behind them.
Bacchas A overcame Valkyrs A on Saturday, but they did concede three goals - which bodes well for Vikings who convincingly defeated Ramsey A.
With Bacchas A and Vikings A level on points it is only down to goal difference that Vikings are top of the league with a mere one goal separating the two sides.
This weekend sees these two sides meet for the first time this season in what should be a brilliant game of hockey.
Elsewhere in Men’s Prem, Vikings B took the advantage in the relegation battle defeating Valkyrs B three goals to two.
Rossborough Men’s Division One saw Castletown A record a brilliant comeback from 2-5 down to overcome Harlequins A, with Castletown taking the lead after five crazy second-half minutes that led to four goals for the southerners.
Corey Corkhill yet again proved his worth for Harlequins with four well-taken goals of his own, but it was not quite enough to get their season going.
Vikings C couldn’t find the back of the net in their game against bottom side Castletown B but will still be reasonably happy with a point.
Harlequins took the advantage in Rossborough Women’s Division One when they defeated Vikings B to now sit top of the table by three points, the only side that is undefeated.
Castletown B moved up into second place with a 6-0 victory over Bacchas B.
Harlequins B followed their female clubmates lead by taking control of Men’s Division Two when overcoming Castletown Colts, while Bacchas Colts defeated their own C team to move into second place.
Vikings C remain top of Rossborough Women’s Division One on goal difference, despite not playing this weekend, while Castletown C sit close behind in second place after narrowly overcoming Bacchas C.
Castletown Colts made sure it was a happy day for Castletown with their own win against Ramsey B to make sure they didn’t fall behind the other teams in the league.
