After a break for the Manx Hockey Association Mixed Cup and Plate competitions, attention returns to league matters this weekend.

In Rossborough Mixed Division Two on Saturday, Vikings D could take the outright lead in the table when they face one of their nearest challengers, Valkyrs D.

With both sides recording three wins out of three, whoever triumphs in this match is likely to go on and win the league, but if it ends as a draw then everything is left to play for.

On the balance of this year’s form, Vikings D go into the match as favourites but never underestimate Valkyrs D who are more than capable of beating any team on their day.

Elsewhere, the other unbeaten Ramsey Rookies face a stern test of their title credentials when they face Harlequins B. Both sides seem to be fairly evenly matched so it will be interesting to see how this game ends up, but Ramsey will want nothing less than a win to keep pace in the championship title race.

With the excitement brewing at the top of the table, the remaining teams continue to battle it out with Vikings E taking on Castletown Cosney and Castletown Carrick going up against Bacchas C.

In the Rossborough Mixed Premier League, Vikings A lead the way two points clear of Valkyrs A with Ramsey behind them.

The All Blacks take on Bacchas B this weekend and few will bet against Vikings taking both points on offer. But Bacchas B are taking a lot of pride in the fact that they currently sit level on points with their A team and will be looking to gain every single point they can.

Bacchas A take on Valkyrs B and, despite the form of the former this season, they certainly have enough to overcome their opponents.

Valkyrs A have a difficult game against Castletown Celts. With the latter performing well this season but suffering injuries and player availability issues over the past couple of weeks, the southerners will be aiming high in this match while the westerners will be hoping to keep pace with the top of the table.

Ramsey A have surprised a few people this year and take on Vikings B. Although the latter are on paper the weaker side, they have already overcome the odds this year when they beat Bacchas A so the northerners will need to be on top form to ensure that they continue their winning ways.

Valkyrs C are leading the way in Rossborough Mixed Division One, sitting two points clear of Harlequins A.

But the pacesetters have a potential banana skin to overcome in the form of Castletown Southerners who, at their best, can overcome any side in this league.

Harlequins will be aiming to close the gap at the top of the table when they face Castletown Cushags who have punched above their weight this year, impressing a number of onlookers.

Elsewhere, Vikings C continue to hunt down their first league win this year when they face bottom side Castletown Cammags and Bacchas Colts will look to overcome Ramsey Ravens.
