Peveril Motor Cycle Club has benefitted from the fact that the opening two rounds of the ACU Wessex Plant British Sidecar Trials Championship were affected by snow.

Round one in Devon was a victim of the Beast from the East in late February, while the recent Doncaster Cup event near Matlock was hit by an overnight snowfall that made it difficult for some crews to travel to the event.

The later-than-usual Easter date for the back-to-back Isle of Man rounds have consequently gained a few extra entries as it will not be possible for competitors to drop anymore events if they did miss the original round two at Winster.

Both rounds will start 10.30am from club HQ at Knock Froy, Santon, although a support class for twinshock solos will get underway 30 minutes earlier at 10. Each day will consist of 36 sections over a distance of approximately 20 miles.

The route for the Andy Smith Trial is on Saturday is as follows (sidecars): 10.35am - Knock Froy, six sections; 11.30 - Mullinaragher, five; 12.30pm - South Barrule Plantation, three; 12.55 - Cringle Quarry, three; 1.30 - South Barrule Quarry, six; 2.15 - Old Stoney Mountain Quarry, five; 2.50 - Foxdale Old Brickworks, five; 3.40 - Knock Froy, six.

The David Craine Trial on Easter Sunday now forms round three of the championship.

Again the solo support class will get away at 10am. Sidecars: 10.35am - Knock Froy, two sections; 11.15 - Ellerslie DOI depot, three; 11.50 - King’s Forest, six; 12.35pm - Eary Vane, three; 1pm - Baldwin Bridge, four; 1.35 - Ballawyllin, three; 2pm - Ballachrink, four; 2.35 - Lark Hill, three; 3pm - Bim’s Field (Sir George’s Bridge), four; 3.40 - Glen Lough, two; 4.10, Knock Froy, two.
