More than 170 Santas, elves, reindeer and other festive-themed participants dashed their hearts out for charity this week.

The annual Santa Dash made heads turn throughout the streets of Douglas.

Entrants this year included teams from charities such as the ManxSPCA and Isle of Play, as well as representatives of the island’s businesses and government offices.

Isle of Man Newspapers staff also took part with members dressing up as Christmas presents, using recycled newspaper print for wrapping.

Liam Rice from the Manx SPCA went along with colleagues Krysia Boruch, Pete Quayle, Kayleigh Neild and Juana Warburton dressed as Christmas animals.

He said: ’It was my first time running in the event and it was harder than I thought trying to stay together to spell "MSPCA" in the right order, but we had loads of fun on the day.

’We won one spot prize (Krysia the Christmas rabbit) and also raised £214.59 from our Just Giving page.’

Kevin Loundes claimed first place in the Santa Dash 2018 with 4:24 minutes. Alan Corlett came in second place and Jamie Newton in third. Rachael Franklin was the first woman to reach the finish line in sixth place overall with 4:53 minutes.

Best dressed team was charity Isle of Play, with four members dressing as reindeer pulling a sleigh with Santa and an assistant elf inside.

Best dressed male was James Cherry and best dressed female was Angie Robinson.

Isle of Man Bank sponsored the event.
