Sentencing has been postponed for a defendant who once again has failed to appear in court.
Sandra Elizabeth Taylor, of Dumbell’s Terrace in Laxey, was found guilty in her absence of a number of motoring matters, including careless driving, driving without a licence failing to stop after an accident, causing damage to another vehicle, failing to report an accident and failing to notify a change of vehicle ownership. All offences were committed on June 6 last year.
Representing the 48-year-old, advocate Stephen Wood said his client was unable to attend court for sentencing as she was having training for a new job in the UK. She had offered to make herself available on July 6, he said.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court: ’She took the active decision not to attend at her trial and this is a case of someone who simply does not want to attend and I do not accept the explanation put forward to be anything close to reasonable. She was bailed to attend today and she has wilfully disregarded it. Court is not here for her convenience.’
She must now appear for sentencing on March 16.
