This was the scene today (Sunday) after police dealt with a serious incident in upper Douglas.

Armed police and the police dog unit were part of the heavy police presence. Officers entered a property on the corner of Stanley View and Clifton Terrace.

Police cordoned off a number roads including a section of Broadway and Ballaquayle Road to both motorists and pedestrians.

Officers had warned residents to stay away from the area, saying the cordon was to ’keep people safe’.

’There are armed police in the area for safety precautions,’.

Despite the warning, several onlookers gathered to watch proceedings and residents of nearby properties could be seen looking out from their windows.

The cordon was lifted at about 11.45am.
