A man needed hospital treatment after he was assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning.
His injuries were not life-threatening but the police described the assault as serious.
The man was attacked on Well Road Hill, Douglas, at 3am.
Another man has been arrested and is on police bail pending inquiries.

Detectives would like to speak to witnesses or who were were in the general area of Strand Street, Market Street and Well Road Hill around this time.
A spokesman said: ’From inquires conducted so far it has been established that there were a number of members of the public in the area at this time.
’The police would urge those individuals to make contact with police headquarters on 631212 to ascertain if they can assist the investigation.’
