A Port St Mary teenager has been fined £400 for possessing £18 worth of cannabis.

Ryan Alexander Woodworth, of Clifton Road North, was detained by police on May 26, at Finch Road in Douglas, after they smelt the class B drug.

They found 0.9 grams in shorts under his trousers.

Woodworth, aged 18, is already subject to a suspended sentence, imposed in July after he was caught with 140.7 grams of cannabis, valued at £2,814.

Defence advocate Emily Brennan said her client was receiving support from Motiv8, and was looking into obtaining a medicinal cannabis prescription.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered Woodworth to pay £50 prosecution costs.

He'll pay at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.
