A 46-year-old man from Anagh Coar has been fined £150 for being found drunk in a public place.

Lee Simon Crawley, of Tramman Park, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were called to Sherwood Terrace in Douglas on June 23 at 8.15pm.

Crawley was said to be smelling of alcohol, slurring his words and unsteady on his feet.

He was subsequently arrested.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil said that there was no suggestion that her client had been difficult or involved in anything else, he was simply sitting on some steps.

Magistrates ordered him to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
