The police has revealed six residents woke up to a microwave breakfast in the cells on Saturday morning.
The Friday before Christmas is one of the busiest nights of the year for the island’s pubs and clubs, but also its constabulary with police reporting they arrested six people on Friday night, stopped six cars for defects and dealt with an overturned car at Cronk Y Voddy.
A post on the police Facebook page said: ’Busy night tonight for officers island wide.
’The vast majority of Christmas drinkers have behaved and now gone home apart from six who will wake up to a microwave breakfast and a locked cell door.’
A single vehicle crash at Cronk Y Voddy, which saw a car end up on its roof, was put down to speed, with police warning drivers to drive to the conditions of the road.
No one was injured in the crash however police have advised drivers to ensure they are paying full attention to the roads, especially on the dark nights.
The road policing unit’s unmarked car also stopped six motorists on Friday night for ’vehicle defects’, each listed as faulty lights.
Police said: ’Make sure you check your cars frequently to make sure they are safe and roadworthy.’
